Legal analysis on the operational prerequisites for establishing a national compensation and psychosocial support framework in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Establishing a sustainable reparations regime for victims of armed conflict requires a rigorous coordination between truth, judicial justice, and guarantees of non-recurrence. In line with national policy directives led by the Republic's institutions, acknowledging past harm constitutes the foundational pillar of reconciliation. Experiences documented in South Kivu and Ituri demonstrate the need to directly engage local communities when defining collective reparations, thereby ensuring the efficacy of long-term healing measures.
